The Agriculture Technician Apprentice partners with an experienced Technician to develop mechanical skills through on-the-job and formal training. The Technician Apprentice is responsible for general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and preparation of new equipment for customer delivery.
Apprentice’s demonstrating desire and aptitude may be eligible for company-paid tuition, books, and tools while attending Parkland College to obtain an Associate in Applied Science Degree – AGCO Service Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities are representative of the work to be performed and may not be all inclusive.
- Works with a mentor to develop the skills necessary to perform general maintenance and equipment set-up
- Learns how to diagnose issues of low complexity and completes associated repairs
- Ability to learn to use repair manuals to assist in completion of assigned repairs
- Accurately documents time and description of labor on all work-orders
- Represents the company in a professional manner, works well as part of a team, and demonstrates a high degree of reliability
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift or move 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move 75 pounds or more
- Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds of force
- Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment as necessary
- Ability to climb a ladder and carry an object while climbing
- Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms
- Generally required to stand for prolonged periods of time
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise
- Near moving mechanical parts
- Potential to work in inclement weather and/or adverse conditions
